Blame Game

Blame Game

Dass

Two seperate investigations have determined that there was torture, brutality, sexual abuse and homicide committed by American servicemen and women at Abu Gharib prison in Iraq. I heard two interviews on radio today with investigators who also just happened to be former Secretaries of Defense. Neither of these distinguished men would place direct blame on high ranking military or civilian officials. Instead, they played semantic games and danced around words like "culpable" and "authoritative responsibility."
Okay kids listen up: You can not have authority without reponsibility. And if you are the reponsible military authority, you are culpable for the misdeeds of every single soldier under your command.

Privates and specialists do not set the tone of a military unit. Colonels and majors and generals do. That's why they get paid the big bucks folks.

I am very upset about the Iraqi prison torture because these creeps have soiled the uniform of everyone who has ever served in the U.S. military. I proudly wore that uniform for almost half of my adult life.
