Well...Apparently most Americans prefer to live in a right-wing theocracy. For those of us who like our faith to be a personal issue and not a political one, this is a sad turn of events. Most of the phone calls to C-SPAN this morning were from people who said they voted for Bush because he represented thier personal Christian values. This is troubling on several levels. The first is that President Bush is not a great example of "Christ-like" behavior or morality. The second troubling aspect is the potential for social and governmental persecution of non-Christians by the majority. (Please read a little history first if you choose to argue this point.)

As for me and mine...we will just lay low, enjoy life, give the right wingers something to be amazed by, and use our little vegetarian buddhist butts to spread the love at every always confuses them when you love them in spite of themselves.

It is election day in the United States. My wife has something to say:

TODAY is either the day hope reigns or the start of the revolution. In a mere three years we have become a nation of extremes and extremists. Many of us sit dazed in disbelief that, rather than spend the years evolving, we have spent them countering fundamentalism and war and fabricated fear. Alert levels go up and down, as if on a whim, and we still don't know what to fear, or whom. Some of us have contingency plans to resort to in the face of re-election. Others stockpile duct tape and hunker before the latest poll. Will we all plead for the implant in another four years or will we carve a real democracy from the rubble of our conviction?

So many things conspire to blind the constituency, to keep them coming back: the fear of anything new; ample goods and a comfortable chair; easy money or the illusion of it; greed and the incessant want produced by the choir of commercialism blaring from the ever swelling screens, even when most of us have enough, enough; want of blood in the form of scape-goatism because our big screens and big cars and big bellies make us feel insignificant, impotent and numb faced with so much canned beauty, so much false bravado, or at least the loudness of Springerism, that masks the monologue playing in our restive heads that tells us, if we would only listen, if we could only hear, "Life can be better than this! Life can be good."

Just a few last moment thoughts to keep in mind before you vote on Nov.2. If the human cost of Bush's misadventure in Iraq doesn't influence you, maybe this link to the DOLLAR cost will...

Tom Daschle Visits My Town

TOM DASCHLE visited Hot Springs SD last night. He is without a doubt one of the most down-to-earth public figures I have ever been around. Earlier in my (oh-so-colorful) life I worked as a stage manager and frequently was acquianted with rock stars...(Bono, Springsteen...blah blah blah) Well Daschle is arguably one of the most powerful men in America...and he just quietly walks in, comes up to me and starts talking about the rain. No introduction, no baby kissing...most of the 200 plus crowd did not know he was in the room until he picked up the microphone. He has something going on. He is sincere. He knows history and his responsibility to it. Tom Daschle even passed my lovely hippie poet wife's "Karma-Aura-Vibe" test . That's a BIG endorsement!

Theocracy or Democracy?

Is it just me or are there an amazing number of people who plan to vote for G.W. Bush because they believe that GOD speaks through him? In medicine/psychiatry we have a word for folks like this...DELUSIONAL is the nicest way to put it.

BUSH LIE # 152, 376

"As I say, we haven't heard much from him. And I wouldn't necessarily say he's at the center of any command structure. And, again, I don't know where he is. I'll repeat what I said. I truly am not that concerned about him."

President Bush, at a White House press conference, March 13, 2002

"Gosh, I don't think I ever said I'm not worried about Osama bin Laden. That's kind of one of those exaggerations."

President Bush, during last night's (10-13-04) debate.

As the election draws near and the Right Wing gets more desperate to maintain power, the airways are getting clogged with pro-Bush lies and distortions. There is no doubt that John Kerry won the first debate. He was clear, decisive, and so much more intelligent than Bush. Bush simply repeated the same old 6 or 7 rhetorical phrases over and again. I can't see how anyone short of a true GOP/Neocon cultist could continue to support this simpleton!!!! To my Republican friends: Better get off this train now before it crashes and burns in November...

Okay...some people disagree with my assessment of the debate. How about clicking on CNN's site and see how other Americans saw it?CNN POLL CLICK HERE

CAT STEVENS Security Risk!!??? WHAT?

Click Here To See What The Neocons Are Afraid of...

What's so funny 'bout peace, love and understanding...? Yusuf Islam AKA "Cat Stevens" was denied entry to the United States today. Homeland Security (Neocons) says he is a serious security risk. As a guy who was a partner in a small import shop named "PEACE TRAIN" it does not require psychic powers to guess how I feel about this...

I was once like you are now, and I know that it's not easy,
To be calm when you've found something going on.
But take your time, think a lot,
Why, think of everything you've got.
For you will still be here tomorrow, but your dreams may not.
